Do Gums Grow Around Implants?
Many people might have experienced receding gums around their teeth, but very few will know that the same can also happen with dental implants. Dental implant surgery takes a few months for recovery, and yes, after implant placement, some people experience the gums growing over the implant.
It is possible to avoid gums’ growth around the implants if the implant is placed correctly and the patient is ideal. When gums recede on dental implants, the implants can expose themselves instead of a tooth root. And this gum implant can look unaesthetic, make patients feel self-conscious, and might even result in implant failure.
Causes of gum recession
The gum recession works in the same manner if you have dental implants or natural teeth. A few causes of gum recession are as follows:- Brushing too hard
- Poor oral hygiene
- Smoking
- Genetics
- Hormone levels etc.
